Super B Turns 3!

We just celebrated my little boy's third birthday. We had a ton of people come from out of town and it was a blast!  At first he wanted a "Spider-Man" party, but eventually he decided he also wanted Ironman and Superman and the rest of the gang. So, I scoured GOOGLE images to get ideas for an awesome Superhero themed party. To keep costs down I did most of it myself. Here are the results...

The invitations

"Superhero Headquarters"
Cupcakes from local grocery store with homemade toppers

Party bags filled with superhero loot

Treats:
Colored Popcorn
Chocolate Dipped Marshmallows
Kryptonite Jello

Fun Callout Pictures

The Thank You Cards

Oh Ally!

The next time someone wants to "be friends" after they break your heart there's always the "Ally approach"...

Write how you feel in a letter:

"Love can sweep you off your feet and carry you along in a way you've never known before. But the ride always ends, and you end up feeling lonely and bitter.

Wait...

It's not love I'm describing. I'm thinking of a monorail."

Goodbye, "J.D."

Ally

....Every day she gets a little bit stronger.... :)

Are theme parks worth the money?

I think so! Uncle Matt treated us to a day at Silverwood Theme Park and Ben thoroughly enjoyed his first ever "Tickle-Tummies"! I was worried the whole thing would be a waste of money but it turned out to be an awesome day. So... am I making plans for Disney World?....YES!!!

Peace + Love + Rainbow Cakes

I had to try out these rainbow cupcakes and see for myself if they really are so easy to do. And they ARE! They look so fantastic when you take a bite... How fun would this be for a hippie themed party?!

Plan your own birthday!

I just recently celebrated my 24th birthday and I planned it myself!  I'm so glad I did, too! My husband and I had grandma babysit our little one for the weekend and we were off to Seattle for a weekend of fun! I highly recommend all of the places we went to!
Here's what we did:
Friday:
  • Checked in to Hotel Sierra in Bellevue
  • Got our date night clothes on and headed out!
  • Made my hair appointment just in time at Swink Style Bar in Seattle (A blowout only hair salon)
  • Ate dinner with my BEST friend and her boyfriend at Canlis (A super fancy restaurant that men wear suits to and has awesome views)
Saturday:
  • Got coffee at VICTROLA Coffee house. Best coffee either of us have ever had!
  • Spent the day together downtown Seattle. Shopping, site seeing, eating.
  • Went over to Gasworks park for some cool pictures and sights.
  • Back to hotel to primp for our dinner date with friends.
  • Met five other couples for dinner at Maggiano's Little Italy in Bellevue.  Great dinner, even better company
  • After dinner we got coffee at Tully's and talked, laughed and reminisced 'till they kicked us out!
Sunday:
  • Breakfast at the hotel with family that is also staying at the Hotel Sierra
  • Back to Victrola for some 'even better than the day before' coffee.
  • Over the river and through the woods to grandmothers house. (To pick up the little one)

    What to do with cards?!

I saved all the adorable cards from my baby shower and decided that there has got to be something cute to do with them, besides shoving them in a box to forget about. I decided I would pick my favorites and frame them. I think it turned out pretty cute. I'd like to maybe do one for each of his birthdays.

    Target Baby Crib Bedding

So the baby finally has a crib! Gramma Lou Lou bought him this wonderful, sturdy white one at a garage sale for $20! I got him target crib accessories to match his blue and brown decor and it looks SO good! He absolutely loves his new bed and is so happy to be out of the Graco Pack n Play.

    Little "B" Turns One!

I started planning the first birthday party for my little "B" about 2 months before the day. I was just so excited to throw a little party for him, afterall, he is my little prince! So I decided airplanes would be the theme and the colors gradually came about as the primaries, Red Blue Green Yellow. I made the invitations, party favors, banner, airplane cupcake toppers, one cupcake stand, delicious cupcakes and some of the food myself. Then bought some party food from Costco and Fred Meyers.

First things first - the invitations...

    Then the decor...

For the banner, I just printed out letters in different fonts and put the same size circle around each letter so that they were easy to cut out, then I strung present wrapping string through each one

This was the birthday boy's seat!

Somehow the presents all matched the decor! Splendid!

    The food...

    Finger foods,

    Cupcakes...

    Cupcakes...

More cupcakes. The stand on the left is the one that I made.  I used a Huggies diaper box, white card stock, a Martha Stewart fancy hole puncher, fancy rope, pins, super glue, baby food jars, white spray paint, and little handmade paper airplanes.

    The party favors...

    The supplies...

    Baggies w/ twist ties

    M&M's with 1/4 cup scoop

    Mini toy flying objects

Airplane making candy, I got this idea from here on flickr

And VOILA! Airplane themed party favors!

Displayed with an airplane ~ Of Course!

And finally, the birthday boy himself! ~Little "B"

The party was a smashing success! Little "B" made out like a bandit with presents, and the 30+ guests had a great time!

    Homemade Cupcake Tower

I wanted to make a cupcake tower for "Little B's" 1st Birthday party, using things I already had in the house It took forever and was really hard to do, but I did it and it turned out really cute!
     THE PROCESS:
I cut out circles from a big Huggies diaper box, and the dividers are small and large baby food jars and a pill bottle.
I put covered the circles in card stock and made pretty bands using a Martha Stewart paper punch.
Then, I sprayed the jars white and glued it all together.
To hide the seams I put fancy ribbon on the edges. I attached the ribbon with sewing pins so that I can change the style of the tower for other parties.  The paper airplanes were handmade and glued on and I used a whole punch for the colorful confetti circles!
